When: Wednesday October 14th at 11:20 am and at 5.20 pm

Project Details

Joint research project to develop the mass production of composite materials. The aim is to develop manufacturing processes for the mass production of composite components that can be used in automotive and aircraft construction. Machine learning methods and intelligent tools should lead to efficient and resource-saving production with low cycle times, which can also be transferred to other manufacturing processes.

The 3-year research project CosiMo, supported by the Bavarian state government, began in June 2018. Bringing together the University of Augsburg (MRM & ISSE), DLR, ITA Augsburg and industrial partners KUKA, Faurecia, Premium Aerotec, Krauss-Maffei, SGL-Carbon, Netzsch, Siebenwurst, IBA and ESI Group. The project will research new technologies for fully automated production processes of fiber-reinforced plastics, so-called composite materials. The aim is to produce components ready for final contouring in a single process step. This should enable the sustainable and economic production of lightweight components in the automotive and aircraft industry.
