At the dawn of the massive use of composite materials in every industry, the need is great for simulation tools empowering the engineers’ creativity and productivity.
ESI has developed an entire suite of industry-oriented applications to realistically simulate and fine tune the manufacturing processes of composites parts. These applications focus on components made of continuous fibers and thermoset or thermoplastic matrix. Manufacturing of composites parts usually goes through different operations. ESI offers an integrated solution that allows the analysis and optimization of each individual manufacturing operations but that also links these different operations by transferring material history (change in fiber orientations, curing degree, temperature distribution, etc ...) from one operation to the next.
We have worked with ESI on flow simulation, forming simulation and impact modelling for many years, and consider their software to be at the leading edge of composites analysis. During that time we have developed materials characterization techniques to determine necessary input data, in particular reinforcement permeability for resin flow simulation. We are very pleased to be able to provide some of our data for other users – as well as providing useful data for analysis of composites manufacturing, we hope that this will promote further collaboration amongst the composites manufacturing community.
