Sr. Technical Engineer performs consulting projects and conducts training using ESI’s proprietary Sysweld software products. Engineering application projects, where existing ESI technologies are applied to customer applications; Field Services and Training projects, where existing ESI products require paid technical support or training, and innovative or special Projects, where new modeling applications of ESI’s proprietary Sysweld software products need to be developed for specific and often more challenging applications.  Provides the first-line technical or hot line support to customers for software products within the Weld Product Group.  Assists with business development by identifying potential opportunities for consulting services contracts, pre-sales technical presentations, and attendance at trade shows and conferences to provide technical support for the sales and marketing team.  Advises the Product Management staff of all opportunities for alternative or new technology products and services that can help ESI achieve its business growth goals. Assists in providing software functionality and acting as technical liaison to the sales team.  Aids in preparation of proposals for consulting projects. Prepares formal presentation of technical papers and other technical publications within the guidelines set by ESI.  Represents ESI at national and international conferences and industry trade shows.  


Required Education, Experience, Technical Skills: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or closely related field and 24 months of experience as an Application Engineer or any related position in application engineering. Must have two years of experience in welding methods including general arc welding, laser welding, multi-pass welding (temperbead), friction stir welding, spotweld and cladding, numerical simulation principles of FEA structural simulation (mesh, contact, convergence, minimum BC), welding defects including distortion, residual stress, fracture and durability, Fortran, Python.
