Objectives: Learn to use the VISUAL Environment for DYNA, from meshing with Visual-Mesh to Visual-Crash for DYNA and post-processing with Visual-Viewer.

  • General presentation: the VISUAL Environment
    - General Manipulation
    - Shortcuts
    - Graphical User Interface presentation
    - Selection tools
  • What is Visual-Mesh? General presentation

Day 1, PM: Visual-Mesh

  • CAD Functionalities:
    - Sketch curve
    - Circle/arc creation
    - Curve trim/split
    - Curve drop
    - Surface sweep (drag)
    - Surface revolve (spin)
    - Surface bend (spline)
    - Surface offset
    - Surface cleanup
  • Node Functionalities
  • Mesh Creation:
    - 1D Meshing: on selected curve
    - 2D Meshing: automatic mesh generation, modifications, transformations 
    - Topology and Batch Meshing: definition, advantages, functionalities, terminology, example
    - 3D Meshing: node selection, map, sweep, revolve, tetra mesh, hexa mesh, element split.

Day 2, AM: Visual-Crash for DYNA

  • General tools presentation 
    - PART Table
    - Card images
  • Solver Specific tools presentation
    -  Weld Tools (Mesh-independent Spotwelds)
    - Intersection and Penetration removal
    - Part Replace
    - Model Organization
    - Model Checks
    - Time Savers
  • Model setup: Material creation, modification and deletion, Contact, Load definitions, Boundary conditions, Joint definitions, etc.
