During the last decade, Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) has become a predominant design objective for the automotive industry, for Railway transportation, for Aeronautics and Defense, and in the Electronics and Telecommunication sectors. International standards specify limits to the emission of electromagnetic disturbances and to the susceptibility of electronic products to such aggressions. Manufacturers have to guarantee that their products comply with the requirements imposed by such EMC regulations. Since fully realistic measurements can only be made with fully assembled samples, EMC problems are often revealed in a late phase of the product development process, implying expensive and time-consuming design iterations. Computer simulation of electromagnetic properties of electronic devices is a promising way to make EMC design faster and cost-effective since it can be applied to the virtual product before sample fabrication.

PAM-CEM Solutions aim to address fully realistic models in their early design stage. In addition to the solvers’ capabilities, the overall simulation process is continuously being enhanced to increase speed of solution and ease-of-use. Because EMC experts are not always familiar with CAD data management or with mesh generation subtleties, dedicated capabilities are provided in order to circumvent the tedious task of cleaning poor geometrical models and to start the electromagnetic analysis as fast as possible.
