Comfort applications for human modeling

As user’s comfort improvement is a key issue for the design of many industrial products, virtual tests including human models help quantifying subjective comfort sensations by providing biomechanical parameters, such as loads onto and inside the body, muscle forces, body part deformation, etc. For vehicle interior design, dedicated human models, including deformable flesh, joints, spine, and organ models are used in conjunction with a detailed model of the seat (deformable foam, structure, upholstery). Simulations provide detailed information such as static/dynamic pressures and vibration transmitted to sensitive parts of the body – even before any prototype is built.
