Foam Module

The Foam module
expands VA One's library of materials to include advanced poroelastic materials based on full Biot theory.  At low frequencies, this enables you to add "foam finite element" (PEM) subsystems to your existing VA One models and couple them to adjacent FE structure and FE acoustic subsystems.  At mid and high frequencies, this enables you to integrate more advanced noise control treatment layups into your existing SEA and Hybrid models.  Using the Foam module you can ensure optimal use of foams and fibers in your applications.

Benefits

  • Optimize the use of poroelastic materials to reduce weight and cost
  • Design multi-layers for maximum absorption and transmission loss in a given environment
  • Assess the impact of flanking transmission through leakage paths, cutouts and pass-throughs
  • Easily add foam finite elements to existing external FE models
  • Design novel treatments with non-uniform thickness and/or double-porosity

Features

  • Fully integrated "foam finite element" solver for modeling the low frequency response of poroelastic materials
  • FE area junctions for automatically coupling "Foam finite element" subsystems to adjacent FE subsystems (through non-compatible meshes)
  • Advanced models of foams, fibers, gaps, solids, perforated and resistive layers for mid and high frequency modeling
  • Intuitive model setup and model management fully integrated in the VA One environment
  • Import material properties measured in FOAM-X
