Upcoming Events 2012:
Composites Seminar 2012 - Expert Course (3d edition)
September 26 & 27, 2012, Paris, France
This course is designed for engineers and scientists from industry and research centers who wish to increase their knowledge in the field of composites and its application in Virtual Manufacturing and Virtual Performance simulations.
Past Events 2012:
Solidification Course 2012 - Expert Seminar (21st edition)
April 29 - May 4, 2012 Les Diablerets, Switzerland
The goal of this course is to better understand
the physics and the phenomena which are behind the solidification defects and problems (porosity, cracks, microstructures, segregation, stresses,...) that you are troubleshooting everyday.
Adjoint Fluid Optimization & FlowHead
March 28 & 29, 2012, Munich, Germany
The EC-funded research project FlowHead has developed adjoint-based optimisation methods for shape and topology optimisation of fluid flow with application to the automotive industry. The project and ESI are organising a final conference to present the state of the art in industrial design optimisation for fluids, including the results of the project. The event is combined with an ESI Expert Seminar on 'State of the art and future challenges in development and application of adjoint sensitivity methods'.
"2 days of high-level presentations and lively discussions on how to further utilize CFD simulations in the design process: very worthwhile and enjoyable!" (Dr. S. Harries, Managing Director, FRIENDSHIP SYSTEMS GmbH)
"[...]The adjoint methods presented during this conference offer a lot of potential to improve development processes and products. What I'll take home is a new vision on of how my future work could look like. I look forward to that day when I'll find some results of this research project in the commercial codes."
Past Events 2011:
Composites Seminar 2011 - Expert Course (2nd edition)
September 28 & 29, 2011; Stuttgart, Germany
This course is designed for engineers and scientists from industry and research centers who wish to increase their knowledge in the field of composites and its application in Virtual Manufacturing and Virtual Performance simulations.
"The seminar was well organized and the speakers were the best in the business. The content was insightful, state-of-the-art and inspiring for my own simulation efforts. It was also an opportunity to meet other professionals working on the same problems, which incited collaboration initatives."
(A. George, SWEREA SICOMP)
"The ESI Composites Simulation Expert Seminar has really managed to bring together leaders in the composites manufacturing process simulation area from both academia ande industry! With it's highly focussed talks it felt like being at one of the large composites conferences but with only the presentations you want to hear. A highly recommended event for anyone focussed on process simulations and virtual testing. Thoroughly looking forward to next years event!" (M. Duhovic, University of Kaiserslautern, Institut für Verbundwerkstoffe)
Meshless Methods Expert Seminar 2011

Events 2010:
Composites Seminar 2010 - Expert Course
October 4 & 5, 2010; Bordeaux, FranceMore information on this event…
Click here for the News Release"The recent ESI Composites Expert Seminar provided me with the perfect networking opportunity to meet with many technical experts and people generally interested in the niche field of advanced composite process modeling & structural analysis simulation. I thoroughly enjoyed the chance to listen to many keynote speakers discuss various topics and themes relating to the fundamental process physics phenomena and the merging trends with respect to automating and integrating this 'advanced technology' into reliable software tools."
"The effort to bring in the experts from the Composite community is remarkable and was needed. Irrespective of the product, the problems/issues are the same. And the solutions were found at various parts of the community. To share these good practices, one platform was missing. ESI did a commendable job by bringing in the experts to share their solutions. This forum needs to be kept live by meeting on regular intervals."
"Good interactivity during presentations. Good quality of proceedings."

"The Fracture Seminar gives a deeper insight into the various uses and research related to failure modeling. The seminar was very helpful; I learned a lot from the lectures and discussions with experts and established good contacts. Furthermore, I appreciated the organization and atmosphere. I recommend attending the seminar."
R. Klein, Fraunhofer
"The ESI Fracture Seminar was a well organised seminar where the lectures were excellently aligned to each other. The seminar covered both modeling and experimental issues with damage and fracture of metals as well as composites and polymers. The informal atmosphere combined with the good pace of the lectures and the discussions during the breaks, made it very instructive. All in all, I think it was a very successful seminar."
C. Ten Horn, Corus
