System Simulation of Belt Conveyors

System Modeling

Introduction

Belt conveyor systems belong to the category of continuous conveyors and are used all over the world for bulk material handling over long distances, for example in open-pit mines, such as the lignite areas in Germany, the copper mines in Chile or in bulk ports, cement plants or power plant operators. This paper is an overview of system simulation for belt conveyor systems. After a brief introduction to system simulation in general, it outlines the requirements for a belt conveyor model and defines potential analysis objectives. The theoretical modeling approach is concluded with two examples of selected simulation tasks.
