ESI GROUP Announces the New Version of PAM-CEM Solutions, Software for Computational Electromagnetics

PAM-CEM Solutions offer unique industrial coupling capabilities to handle realistic models and to access real electromagnetic multi scale phenomena.

Paris, France – February 11, 2008: ESI Group, a leading global solution provider in physics-based simulation software, announced today the release of the new version of its PAM-CEM Solutions software package. This product is aimed at performing realistic and predictive ElectroMagnetic Compatibility (EMC) simulations in the transportation industry, in Aeronautics and Defense, in Telecommunications and in Electronics.

When dealing with industrial models, conventional strategies usually rely on either global (with standalone full wave Maxwell modeling) or local approaches (with specialized tools focusing on induced effects on wiring). PAM-CEM Solutions is a unique software package able to mix both: 3D time domain simulations well suited to reflected or diffracted phenomena and CRIPTE, a dedicated Transmission Lines tool for Cable Networks. The new version also pays special attention to the management of large scale models including several dozen million elements (STL or NASTRAN files) and hundreds of wires (close to the real model), for 3D computations featuring billions of unknowns.

“With the aim of offering always more predictive tools in Electromagnetic, PAM-CEM Solutions are gathering all those enhancements identified by our industrial partners as key features on the road to Realistic Simulation”, said Dr. Jean-Claude Kedzia, PAM-CEM Solutions Product Manager.

Key enhancements to PAM-CEM Solutions

  • Improved management of large size STL models and NASTRAN files featuring several dozen million elements, with a faster importing stage, an easier management, etc

  • Full interactive addressing of Cable Networks, including dynamic allocation, management of different loads on terminal connectors, full specification of voltage and current generators (location and cable selection), generation of all data files with the display of cross sections and tubes content.

  • In order to allow an efficient management of large scale fully equipped models, the 3D computational stage was also upgraded and CPU optimized, together with some more post-processing capabilities, such as surface currents display, extended multi-frequency output of all relevant results starting from one single 3D run, modeling of lossy dielectric grounds through dedicated PML (Perfectly Matched Layers) Boundary Conditions, etc.

PAM-CEM Solutions are available on Windows XP or UNIX platforms (HP, SUN and IBM), and for LINUX kernels (32 and 64 bits versions).

About ESI Group

ESI Group is a world-leading supplier, and a pioneer of digital simulation software for prototyping and manufacturing processes that take into account the physics of materials. ESI Group has developed an extensive suite of coherent, industry oriented applications to realistically simulate a product’s behaviour during testing, to fine-tune manufacturing processes in accordance with desired product performance, and evaluate the environment’s impact on product performance. ESI Group’s products, which have a proven track record in manufacturing and have been combined in multi-trade value chains, represent a unique collaborative and open virtual engineering solution known as the Virtual Try-Out Space (VTOS), enabling virtual prototypes to be improved in a continuous and collaborative manner. This integrated protocol allows all the company’s solutions to work with each other and with applications developed by independent software vendors. By significantly reducing costs and development lead times and enabling product/process synergies, VTOS solutions offer major competitive advantage by progressively eliminating the need for physical prototypes during product development. The company generated sales of €66m in 2006, employs over 600 high-level specialists worldwide covering more than 30 countries. ESI Group is listed in Eurolist compartment C of Euronext Paris.
